5s Doner Block

Celica GT-Four ST185

"If I'm going to all this trouble, why not go a bit bigger?" was my thought.

So I grabbed a junk yard 2.2L 5s block from a 2000 Camry.

That's a 10% displacement increase over the stock 2.0L 3s, plus it's the later model 5s, so it's a bit stronger than the earlier 5s.

Anyway, as you can see, this thing is a bit, umm, weathered.

So I gave it some angle grinder and wire wheel love, and it's looking much better.

I also sprayed some PB Blaster down the cylinder walls, to help free the corroded pistons before I start removing the guts.

I still need to find a trustworthy local machine shop for the overboring.

Stay tuned....
